Core Management Team
At the heart of Heguru Education Centre Singapore is a dedicated team of experienced educators and leaders who bring together years of expertise in the Heguru Method, teaching and centre management. Having grown alongside Heguru Education over the years, they bring valuable experience, continuity and a deep understanding of Heguru's educational approach.
Our Founder-Led Core Management Team comprises our Founder, Principals and Vice-Principals, who provide the leadership and direction behind our centres. Beyond their leadership responsibilities, our Principals and Vice-Principals remain actively involved in teaching, while overseeing our educational standards, teacher development, curriculum implementation and daily operations. This ensures that Heguru classes are delivered consistently and to the highest standards across all our centres.
Their extensive teaching experience, long-standing commitment and hands-on leadership over the years form an important foundation of Heguru Education Singapore and the learning experience we provide to every child and family.

Teaching a Heguru class is very different from simply following a lesson plan.
Heguru lessons are highly energetic and carefully structured, with teachers required to manage a wide range of activities, materials, pacing and interactions within each lesson.

Heguru lessons involve a wide variety of activities designed to stimulate children's learning and cognitive development.
Teachers are trained in the delivery of the core Heguru curriculum, including flashcards, memory activities, visualisation exercises and other brain-development activities.
Because Heguru lessons are fast-paced and highly structured, teachers must be able to maintain the rhythm and energy of the class while observing and responding to the children.

What does this mean?
For parents, the words "Japan-certified" should mean more than a certificate hanging on a wall.
At Heguru Education Singapore, certification reflects training in the Heguru Method and the standards expected for its delivery.
Heguru's instructor training in Japan includes multiple stages of learning and practical preparation, including educational theory, observation of actual lessons, practical training, examinations and role-play.
Only after completing the required training and assessment process can an instructor be formally certified.
This rigorous approach reflects Heguru's emphasis on teaching quality and consistent lesson delivery.

Heguru Education Singapore's teachers have had the opportunity to undergo instructor training and certification at Heguru Japan's headquarters in Tokyo.
The training provides our educators with direct exposure to the Heguru Method at its source and allows them to learn from the organisation responsible for developing the Method.

Every Heguru Education Singapore instructor is personally certified at Heguru Japan headquarters by founders Mrs Ruiko Henmi and Mr Hirotada Henmi, the developers of the Heguru Method under Henmi Educational General Laboratory (HEGL) Japan.
This direct, founder-led certification is what keeps every centre — from Punggol to Tampines — teaching to exactly the same standard.

Mr Kuah Eng Liang
Mr Kuah Eng Liang founded Heguru Education Singapore after discovering the Heguru Method in Japan.
With an academic background that includes Cornell University in USA, and driven by his passion for children's education, he brought Heguru to Singapore so that more children could benefit from the Method.
His journey with Heguru began with a visit to Japan, where he met Heguru founders Mr Hirotada Henmi and Mrs Ruiko Henmi and observed Heguru classes first-hand.
His personal experience as a parent and his long-term involvement in Heguru Education continue to shape the organisation's commitment to teaching quality.
